Rights Group Stir Dust Over New Ooni's Credibility

With few days to the coronation of the new Ooni of Ife, fresh crisis is allegedly brewing over the competency of the Ooni of Ife elect, Prince Enitan  Adeyeye  Ogunwusi. The Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), has raised fresh objections over the character and integrity of the monarch in waiting, giving reasons why he is unfit to sit on the stool of his ancestors. Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president caused a stir yesterday, November 18, when he donated the sum of N10 million in cash at the book launch of the late matriarch of Awolowo family, Chief Hannnah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo. Atiku, who was the chief presenter at the biography launch, entitled: “ In the Ra­diance of the Sage: The Life and Times of HID Awolo­wo ,” ordered that the money be brought from his car and handed over to the representative of the family, Vanguard reports. Igbo Group Threatens Buhari Over Ekweremadu's Safety

A group called “Izumunna” on Wednesday, November 18, said it would hold President Muhammadu Buhari, responsible for any harm that befalls Ike Ekweremadu- the deputy Senate president. Senator Ike Ekweremadu was alleged attacked by assassins in Abuja. The threat follows an alleged assassination attempt on Ekweremadu, by suspected gunmen in Abuja on Tuesday, November 17. Izumunna said:  “We want to make it clear that we will hold the present administration liable if anything untoward happens to this great Igbo son.” The Igbo socio-cultural group, made their position clear in a statement made available to journalists in Jos. According to the communique which was signed by its president and secretary, Elvis Chukwu, and Ugo Ihekuna, the group condemned the attack and said it was uncalled for.
